The markets have now been in the red for three consecutive days in a row with continuous selling from foreign investors and weak international equities playing a part. FIIs sold a provisional Rs 4,679.84 crore of shares on Thursday, while DIIs purchased Rs 769 crore worth of shares. Among the sectoral indices, S&P Bse Power (+3.54%) and S&P BSE Utilities (+3.47%) were the top gainers in the previous 5 trading sessions, whereas IT and Pharma lost 5.02% and 3.81%, respectively.
In the period from Friday i.e. January 14 to January 20, the blue-chip NSE Nifty 50 index declined 2.73% from 18,255.75 to 17,757.00. Similarly, the S&P BSE Sensex registered a decline of 2.87% from 61,223.03 to 59,464.62.

Tata Elxsi:
Shares of Tata Elxsi rose 17.95% in the past 5 trading sessions, closing at Rs 7,448.15 on Thursday, and was among the top gainers in the large caps. The upward move in the share price comes at a time when company reported a 43.5% YoY rise in Q3 net profit. Revenue from operations rose 33.2% YoY and 6.7% QoQ to Rs 635.4 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 14.8% QoQ and 46.8% YoY to Rs 210.8 crore. Tata Elxsi MD and CEO Manoj Raghavan said that the company continues to execute strongly on its key strategies, driving growth across all three primary industry verticals and regions, building on its software and digital product engineering capabilities. Shares of Tata Elxsi touched an all-time high of Rs 7525 on the BSE on January 20, 2022.
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL):
The stock of the renewable energy arm of the diversified Adani Group rose 15.76% in the past 5 trading sessions to close at Rs 1965.05 on Thursday. The company announced a provisional operational update for the third quarter ended December 2021 (Q3FY22). In Q3, AGEL said the sale of energy increased by 97% YoY at 2,504 million units in Q3FY22, backed by robust performance in both Solar and Wind portfolios. The company recently signed the World’s Largest Green PPA with SECI to supply 4,667 MW, taking the total signed PPAs to near 6,000 MW out of 8,000 MW awarded to AGEL under SECI’s manufacturing linked solar tender. The company’s stock hit a milestone on Tuesday this week, touching a market cap of Rs 3 lakh crore.

Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company, the financial services arm of Murugappa Group, was among the names that drove the bullish performance this week of the market and were up by 10.66% by the market close on Thursday. The company is consolidating its position as the leading player in Vehicle Finance, Loan against Property, and Housing Finance business by launching three new business divisions in the consumer and SME eco-system, namely, consumer small enterprise loan, secured business and personal loan, and SME loan. The company has partnered with leading Fintech companies – BankBazaar, Kreditbee and Paytail, and is in advanced discussions with many more fintechs and digital ecosystem partners for sourcing personal loans, professional loans, Micro & Small Business loans and BNPL.
