Nifty 50 witnessed a flat opening with a positive bias amid positive global cues. In this article, we have shortlisted top stocks that are witnessing a strong price volume breakout.
On Tuesday, Nifty 50 opened on a flat note with positive note at 18,089.8 as against its previous close of 18,014.6. The Wall Street indices are closed on account of Christmas holidays. Hence, domestic markets are likely to take cues from the Asian peers. However, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq 100 futures are trading in green, at the time of writing.
Moreover, the monthly expiry of December 2022 contracts is slated on Thursday and it is likely to bring volatility in the markets. Asian indices traded mostly higher on Tuesday. At 10:22 a.m., South Korea’s Kospi surged 0.38%, Japan’s Nikkei jumped 0.89% and China’s Shanghai Composite climbed 0.78%.
At 10:22 a.m., Nifty 50 was trading flat at 18,011.55, down by 3.05 points or 0.02%. Broader market indices, on the other hand, outperformed frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index was up 0.61% and Nifty Small-Cap 100 index gained 0.96%.
On BSE, the advance-decline ratio was optimistic with 2303 stocks advancing, 827 declining and 136 remaining unchanged. On sectoral front, banks, financial services, FMCG and pharma traded in red, while metals, realty and media were the top gainers.
According to the data as on December 26, FIIs were net sellers, while DIIs were net buyers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares to the tune of Rs 497.65 crore. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,285.74 crore.
