Roshni Nadar Malhotra - India’s richest woman, an exemplary business tycoon and philanthropist!

Roshni Nadar Malhotra is the first woman to chair an Indian tech company and one of the few in the global tech scene. Malhotra took the duties of the chairperson from her father, Shiv Nadar in 2020 when the company was worth an estimated US$ 8.9 billion.

An MBA from Kellogg School of Management, she started her career as a news producer in the UK and thereafter worked with various companies as a producer before joining HCL. She joined HCL in 2009 and in just 12 months was made the executive director. In her last position as vice-chairperson, she backed HCL’s US$ 1.8 billion purchase from IBM for a portfolio of its products. The acquisition was the biggest by value in the company’s 29-year history.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra was ranked 55th on the Forbes world’s 100 most powerful women in 2020 and she is the richest woman according to IIFL wealth Hurun India Rich list 2019. She was also featured in the 2020 Asia’s Power Businesswomen list of 25 powerful female leaders in the Asia Pacific region.

The total net worth of Roshni Nadar Malhotra is Rs 54,850 crore. Her involvement is not limited to business, as she is passionately involved in philanthropy through various trusts and foundations.

A trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, she is the chairperson of VidyaGyan which works for the betterment of economically underprivileged and meritorious rural students of Uttar Pradesh. Being a wide life enthusiast she also founded the Habitats Trust in 2018 which works toward protecting India’s natural habitats.
