Nifty 50 opened lower amid weak global cues. However, accumulating strong dividend paying stocks makes more sense. In this article, we have listed high dividend paying stocks with rising dividend yield over 5 years.

On Thursday, Nifty 50 opened lower at 18,045.7 against its previous close of 18,122.5. This was as a result of weak global cues. On Wednesday, key Wall Street indices fell, as investor sentiments deteriorated amid rising Covid cases in China, mixed economic data and geopolitical tensions impending in 2023.

Nasdaq Composite witnessed lowest closing of 2022 at 10,213.29 tanking 1.35%, Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1.1% and S&P 500 declined 1.2% in an overnight trade. On Thursday, Asian peers plunged amid rising Covid cases in China and overnight action on the Wall Street.

At 11:55 a.m., Nifty 50 was trading at 18,039.25, down by 83.25 points or 0.46%. Broader market indices underperformed frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index was trading down 0.8% and Nifty Small-Cap 100 index dipped 0.43%.

On BSE, the advance-decline ratio was negative with 1865 stocks declining, 1453 advancing and 153 remaining unchanged. On sectoral front, all the sectors traded in red with media, PSU banks and FMCG suffered the most.

According to the data as on December 28, FIIs were net sellers and DIIs were net buyers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares to the tune of Rs 872.59 crore. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 372.87 crore.
