Real estate, media, and PSU bank stocks all rose, while FMCG, oil & gas, and consumer durables stocks all fell. After the RBI raised the benchmark repo rate by 50 basis points to 4.90%, the market became more volatile.

The BSE SmallCap index was down 0.33% in the broader market. There was a negative market breadth as 1,554 shares rose on the BSE, while 1,768 sank, and 111 shares did not change. The NSE's India VIX declined 2.55% to 19.90, indicating the market's anticipation of near-term volatility.

The Nifty Realty index finished the day at 404.25, up 1.89%. Macrotech Developers Ltd saw a 5.07% increase, Sobha Ltd saw a 2.92% increase, and Sunteck Realty Ltd saw a 2.74% increase. The Nifty Realty index has increased 14.00% in the last year, compared to 3.91% for the benchmark Nifty 50 index. On the day, the Nifty Media index gained 1.49%, while the Nifty FMCG index lost 1.05%.

The Dow Jones futures were down 138 points, signalling that the US stock market would open lower today. On Wednesday, European equities dipped across the board.
