Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on August 02

Domestic indices trim early losses with gains in power and FMCG stocks.

All of the major Asian markets were trading down, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng leading the pack with losses of more than 2%. The SGX Nifty index signalled a gloomy start for India's broader index. As expected, the Indian domestic indices opened with slight losses.

At 12:20 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 17,299.20 level, declining by 0.24%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were IndusInd Bank, State Bank of India and Shree Cements whereas UPL Ltd, Hindalco Industries and Hero Motocorp were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 58,009.36, edging down by 0.18%. The top gainers were IndusInd Bank, State Bank of India and Asian Paints whereas HDFC, Tech Mahindra and Larsen and Toubro were the market draggers.

The majority of sectors had recovered their early losses and were trading higher. Still, the benchmark indices are being dragged down by BSE Realty, BSE Metals, and BSE IT. The auction for the 5G spectrum has ended, with the government receiving offers totalling more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore. With bids totalling more than Rs 88,000 crore, Reliance Jio, the telecom unit of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), is the largest acquirer of the 5G spectrum.
