List of top 5 gainers and losers in the midcap and smallcap segment for the week from October 21 to 27, 2022.

The frontline index S&P BSE Sensex gained 0.76% or 450 points during the week and closed at 59,756.84 on October 27,2022.

The broader market also gained during the week with S&P BSE Midcap closing up by 1.4% at 25,151.71. The S&P BSE Smallcap also ended at 28,866.12 gaining 1.05%.

Shares with differential voting rights (DVR) of India’s largest automobile manufacturer rose by 18.15% for the week from the levels of Rs 199.75 to Rs 236. The share has a 52-week high and low of Rs 298.50 and Rs 179.85, respectively.

The laggards of the midcap segment were led by Gland Pharma Ltd. The shares of this pharma company fell 10.88% from Rs 40.45 to Rs 36.05. The company reported Q2FY23 on October 26, wherein net revenue de-grew by 3.34% on a YoY basis at Rs 1044.40 crore. However, EBITDA and PAT fell by 21.18% and 20.14% YoY and came in at Rs 296.85 crore and Rs 241.24 crore, respectively. EBITDA and PAT margins shrunk by 644 bps and 486 bps at 28.42% and 23.10%, respectively.

 The top gainer in the smallcap segment is D-Link (India) Ltd. Shares of this leading networking company rose to 28.65% for the week from the levels of Rs 203.15 to Rs 261.35. D-Link posted quarterly numbers on October 22, wherein net revenue grew by 19.62% on a YoY basis and came in at Rs 293.68 crore, however it was flat sequentially. EBITDA came in at Rs 30.57 crore while PAT at Rs 22.70 crore, both growing by 80% on a YoY basis.

The losers of smallcap space were led by Rajratan Global Wire Ltd. The shares of this jeweller in retail space fell from Rs 996.05 to Rs 879.90 registering a loss of 11.66 % in the stock price. The company reported Q2FY23 on October 21, wherein net revenue degrew by 6.89% on a YoY basis at Rs 224.56 crore. However, PAT fell by 25.65% YoY and came in at Rs 23.31 crore. The quarter saw lower demand for bead wire due to lower production of tyre companies in Thailand which are majorly exporting tyres to Europe and the USA. This pulled down the overall profitability.
