The markets swung with indecisiveness amid global and national news. June consumer data showed that the US inflation climbed to a new 41-year high of 9.1%, way above the street expectation. Meanwhile, on the Indian turf, the CPI came in more or less as expected by the street. It was at 7.01% for June, almost a status quo vis-à-vis 7.04% of May.
Benchmark Index S&P BSE Sensex closed for the week at 53,416.15 which was lower by 1.96% or 1065.69 points.
The broader market also witnessed volatility during the week with S&P BSE Mid Cap closing flat at 22,663.31. The S&P BSE Small Cap also ended flat at 25,645.68.

The biggest gainer in the mid-cap segment for the week was Anupam Rasayan India Ltd. The shares of this specialty chemical company have delivered a weekly return of 19.03 % from the levels of Rs 621.20 to Rs 739.40. Crisil has upgraded its outlook from CRISIL A/ Stable to CRISIL A/ Positive for its long-term rating, however, it has reaffirmed its short-term rating as CRISIL A1.

The laggards of the midcap segment were led by Dr Lal Pathlabs Ltd. The shares of the company fell 8.71% from Rs 2178.50 to Rs 1988.65. Shares of the leading diagnostic chain in India has been under selling pressure since the beginning of CY2022. The shares of Dr Lal Pathlabs are currently trading at less than half price from their 52-week high of Rs 4243 logged in September 2021.

The top gainer in the Smallcap segment was Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL). The stock surged a 21.65% for the week from the levels of Rs 19.4 to Rs 23.6. MTNL is the fixed -line telecommunication service provider in the two Metropolitan Cities of Delhi and Mumbai. As the telecom sector is abuzz with the upcoming auction of fifth generation or 5G telecom services including high speed internet, the stocks in the sector are in action, with shares of MTNL rallying 19.85% in a single trading session on July 11.
