Although markets are witnessing wild swings at present, in August 2022, it was quite range bound. At the times when we are witnessing a trend reversal in Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) flows, mutual fund investors seem to have turned cautious.

According to the latest data resealed by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the net inflow in mutual funds were at a 10-month low of Rs 6,100 crore. Historically, studies have shown that investors get cautious when markets are at their all-time high followed by a correction.

On the flip side, the monthly Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) attained an all-time high and seems to be robust at Rs 12,693.45 crore. Even the number of SIP accounts attained an all-time high at 5.71 crore with a record high SIP Assets Under Management (AUM) of Rs 6.39 lakh crore in August 2022.
