Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on August 03

Amid rising geopolitical tensions between the US and China, investor mood in the Asian markets was mixed. With a gain of 43 points, the SGX Nifty indicated a positive opening for the broader index in India. Indian benchmark indices, in contrast, began trading with smaller cuts.

At 12:00 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 17,254.95 level, dipping by 0.52%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Cipla, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra, whereas Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 57,904.95, declining by 0.40%. The top gainers were Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra and Infosys, while Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharmaceuticals were the market draggers. 

The BSE IT sector gained the most, led by shares of Subex Ltd, Accelya Solutions, and Eclerx Services Ltd. Zomato shares dropped after the stock experienced significant block deals. In July, India's merchandise trade deficit climbed to a new record high of USD 31.02 billion. The previous record high for the trade deficit was recorded in June when it was USD 26.18 billion.
