Here’s a list of the top 5 gainers and losers this week in the large-cap space.

Major central banks continue to battle with their common nemesis, the inflation. Even after persistent rate hikes, the latter is not ready to concede defeat. Even worse, the recent crisis in the banking system could pose as a chink in central banks’ armor.

On March 23, the US Fed raised interest rates by 0.25% to 5%. This is the bank’s ninth consecutive rate rise and the highest rate since 2007. The bank mentioned that this could be one of the last few rate hikes for the time being.

Likewise, Bank of England followed a similar suite and raised rates by 0.25% to 4.25%. This move was in response to higher-than-expected UK inflation, which jumped to 10.4% in February from 10.1% in January.

Looking at the Indian stock markets, in the last 5 trading sessions, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex plunged by 0.11%, going from the level of 57,989.9 on 17 March to 57,925.28 on 23 March. Similarly, the NIFTY declined by 0.14%, going from 17,100.05 on 17 March to 17,076.9 on 23 March.

Meanwhile, the prices of commodities like gold and silver increased over 1% and 3%, respectively. Moreover, Rupee strengthened from 82.55 to 82.26 vis-a-vis the US Dollar.

Let us have a look at the top gainers and losers in the large-cap space during the last 5 trading sessions (between 17 March and 23 March).
