Changes effected to the key indices on the NSE

The Index Maintenance Sub-Committee of NSE Indices Ltd (the company that handles the indices business of NSE) has announce a slew of changes to the composition to various NSE equity indices. All the changes below will be effective after the close of trading on September 28, 2023 and would be effective during live market from September 29, 2023. The Index Maintenance Sub-Committee conducts a semi annual review of the various indices in terms of its composition and based on the changes in the underlying stocks satisfying a particular criteria, it decides to either include or exclude certain stocks.

The index Maintenance Sub-Committee does this in-depth evaluation for generic indices, sectoral indices and also for thematic indices. Here are some of the key changes. Only a cross section of index changes has been included in each paragraph to get an idea. Major changes to generic indices on NSE

The NSE-50, the major generic index will not undergo any change. However other indices are likely to under changes as part of the index reconstitution based on the half yearly review.
