Today, the Nifty 50 rose 0.90% to close at 16170.15, while the Sensex rose 0.94% to settle at 54252.53.
In mid-morning trading, the index fell to a new low of 15,903.70. At lower levels, there was a lot of value buying, and the benchmark index managed to close over 16,150 today. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 1.44%, while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.78%t in the broader market. The market had a favourable breadth. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1,779 shares climbed and 1,520 declined, 130 shares remained unchanged.
