Today, the Nifty 50 rose 0.90% to close at 16170.15, while the Sensex rose 0.94% to settle at 54252.53. 

In mid-morning trading, the index fell to a new low of 15,903.70. At lower levels, there was a lot of value buying, and the benchmark index managed to close over 16,150 today. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 1.44%, while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.78%t in the broader market. The market had a favourable breadth. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1,779 shares climbed and 1,520 declined, 130 shares remained unchanged.

Today, the Nifty PSU Bank index rose 3.16% to 2501.85. Over the last month, the index has been down 11.00%. Indian Overseas Bank gained 6.58%, Central Bank of India gained 5.95%, and Canara Bank gained 5.13% among the members. Over the last year, the Nifty PSU Bank index has gained by 6.00%, compared to a 5.68% increase in the benchmark Nifty 50 index. On the other hand, the Nifty Metal index rose 2.67% on the day, while the Nifty Bank index rose 2.20%.

The stock market in the United States ended Wednesday's tumultuous session higher. According to minutes provided by the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, officials are prepared to proceed with further 50-basis-point interest rate hikes.
