In a choppy trading session, NIFTY FMCG was the best performing index and NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX was the worst-performing index

Nifty snapped a three-day winning streak and closed with a fall of 33.50 points. It opened at 17519.20 against the previous close of 17498.25, which means a gap up of 20.95 points. Nonetheless, in a volatile trading session, it closed in red mark on the expiry date. Overall, more stocks closed down in red.

In today’s trade, the best performing index was NIFTY FMCG which was up by 1.20%. This is followed by NIFTY MEDIA, which was up by 0.81%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX. It is down by 1.29%. Out of the total 20.0 companies forming part of the index, 18.0 companies closed in red.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'JSW Steel', 'HUL ', 'Axis Bank', 'IOC' and 'M&M' together they contributed around 33.04 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'Wipro', 'HDFC Bank', 'Divis Labs', 'Hindalco', and 'Reliance Industries'. These companies contributed 73.8 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

Overall market today was in favour of decline. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 225:263.
