Indian equity market closed in the green for a second consecutive day as talks between Russia and Ukraine is likely to see some progress. Nifty 50 closed in green in today's trade with a gain of 103.30 points. It had opened at 17297.20 against the previous close of 17222.00, which means a gap up of 75.20 points. Overall more stocks closed in green.

In today’s trade the best performing index was NIFTY PHARMA it was up by 1.54%. This is followed by NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX, which was up by 1.34%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY MEDIA. It is down by 1.22%. Out of the total 10.0 companies forming part of the index, 7.0 companies closed in red, and 3.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'HDFC', 'HDFC Bank', 'JSW Steel', 'Adani Ports' and 'Infosys' together they contributed around 63.05 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'SBI', 'IOC', 'ONGC', 'ITC' and 'Hero Motocorp'. These companies contributed 14.8 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

Overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 262:227.
