The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, fell 93.91 points, or 0.17%, to 55,675.32 according to provisional closing data. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was down 0.34%, while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 0.61% in the broader market. The market's breadth was skewed to the downside. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1,431 shares climbed and 1,966 declined, 160 shares remained unchanged. The NSE's India VIX, which measures market expectations of near-term volatility, increased 1.13% to 20.20. The Dow Jones futures were up 267 points, signalling that the US stock market would open higher today.

Today, the Nifty Media index fell 1.25% to 2003.55. Over the last month, the index has dropped by 3.00%. Inox Leisure Ltd fell 4.61%, Saregama India Ltd rose 3.83%, and Nazara Technologies Ltd was down 2.62% among the members. The Nifty Media index has risen 11.00% in the last year, compared to the benchmark Nifty 50 index's 5.60% gain. The Nifty Metal index gained 1.12% on the day, while the Nifty Realty index fell 0.82%. The Nifty 50 index is down 0.09% today, closing at 16569.55, while the SENSEX is down 0.26%, closing at 55675.32.
