With increases in the banking, IT, and FMCG sectors, the Indian equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 reached new one-month closing highs on Friday.

After a tumultuous Friday session, the major market benchmarks closed with slight gains. The Nifty ended the day above 16,200 points. Shares of banks, financials, FMCG, and pharmaceutical companies increased, while metal saw some profit-taking after a three-day streak. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, increased by 303.38 points or 0.56% to reach 54,481.84 as per provisional closing data. To reach 16,220.60, the Nifty 50 index gained 87.70 points or 0.54%.

For the third day in a row, the domestic equities barometers maintained their upward trend. The Sensex has increased by 2.54% in three days, while the Nifty has increased by 2.59%. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index climbed 0.20% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index soared 0.28% in the overall market.  

Today's Nifty Infrastructure index saw a 1.16% gain to close at 4669.65. Over the previous month, the index has fallen 2.00%. Larsen & Toubro Ltd increased by 4.74%, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd increased by 2.94%, and Ashok Leyland Ltd decreased by 2.64% among the members. Compared to the benchmark Nifty 50 index's 3.13% increase, the Nifty Infrastructure index has increased by 7.00% over the past year. Other indexes saw gains of 0.99% in the Nifty Energy index and losses of 0.88% in the Nifty Metal index for the day. The mood on Dalal Street was helped by the strength in international markets following the Fed's suggestion of a more moderate program of interest rate hikes during the COVID era. 

Positive market breadth was present today as 1897 shares on the BSE increased, while 1377 shares decreased and 166 shares remained unchanged. All of the European shares decreased, although most Asian stocks rose. 

Shinzo Abe, a former Japanese Prime Minister, was shot and killed on Friday while running for a seat in parliament. This news caused the yen to increase. In addition to conducting home raids, police have detained a 41-year-old male who is accused of carrying out the shooting.
