RIL declines by more than 7% as the market closes with modest losses after a volatile session.

The barometers reversed early declines and closed with slight losses on Friday. Nifty touched a low of 15,511.05 in the morning trade and finished above the 15,750 level. The government hiked taxes on the export of gasoline, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel on Friday, which sent the Nifty Oil & Gas index plummeting.

The S&P BSE Sensex, the barometer index, was down 111.01 points, or 0.21%, to 52,907.93 as of a provisional closing basis. The Nifty 50 index dropped 15.752.05. or 28.20 points. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased 0.67% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased 0.09% in the overall market. Positive market breadth was positive.

Following the announcement of an extra excise charge on petroleum products by the Commerce Ministry, the Nifty Oil & Gas index concluded with a reduction of about 4%. All other Nifty sectors indices, on the other hand, rallied to close in the black. Pharma, Real Estate, and FMCG Stocks lead the comeback. ITC gained more than 4% while leading the FMCG group. As the market rallied in the last hours, companies including Bajaj Twins, Cipla, Britannia, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, TCS, and IndusInd Bank saw gains.

Today's Nifty Energy index saw a 3.93% decline to conclude at 24122.85. The index has decreased by 5.00% during the past month. Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd decreased 13.53%, Reliance Industries Ltd decreased 7.20%, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd increased 3.23 % among the elements. Other indexes saw gains of 2.82 % for the Nifty FMCG index and losses of 2.30 % for the Nifty PSE index for the day.

1,738 shares increased and 1,546 shares decreased on the BSE and 151 shares out of the total were unchanged. The majority of European stocks rose on Friday, but Asian shares finished lower.
