The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, increased by 37.87 points or 0.06% to 60,298 as per preliminary closing data. To reach 17,956.50, the Nifty 50 index rose 12.25 points, or 0.07%. After the previous spike, markets took a pause on the weekly expiry day and ended nearly unaltered; in the meantime, there was a mixed trend throughout the sectoral pack.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased by 0.34%, while the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.42% in the overall market. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1,896 shares rose and 1,499 shares fell. A total of 145 shares were unchanged.
Sectorally, Nifty Metal gained the most, close to 1%, followed by Nifty FMCG and Bank, each up over 5%, and Nifty Financial Service, up 0.3%. Nifty IT and Auto, on the other hand, were the biggest drags on the market, declining by 0.8% and 0.5%, respectively, at the market close. The gain for Craftsman Automation was 2.77%. The company has started operating its new or additional factory in Pune, Maharashtra, for commercial purposes. The 20% upper circuit of Indo Amines was shut. For its manufacturing plants, the corporation has secured an environment clearance for the expansion of "Synthetic Organic Chemical."
European equities were trading in a range on Thursday, while Asian stocks declined as investors grew wary of the prospect of inflation.
US markets declined on Wednesday as it was revealed that the Federal Reserve may not be as aggressive as originally anticipated when it raises interest rates in September, according to minutes from a meeting held in July.
The minutes from the July meeting of the Federal Reserve reveal that policymakers intend to keep raising interest rates to reduce inflation.
