Top 10 Penny Stocks Gainers Today - April 22, 2022

Indian share markets erased gains of the last two trading sessions, ending the week on a negative note.

Today, the Nifty PSU Bank index fell 2.10% to 2786.75. Over the last month, the index has risen by 3.00%. State Bank of India fell 3.04%, Indian Bank down 2.65%, and Bank of Baroda fell 2.15% among the members. The Nifty PSU Bank index has risen 42.00% in the last year, compared to the benchmark Nifty 50 index's 19.20% increase. Nifty Bank index is down 2.10% on the day, while the Nifty Metal index is down 1.97%. The Nifty 50 index was down 1.27% to settle at 17171.95 today, while the SENSEX has dropped 1.23% to close at 57197.15.

The BSE Sensex fell 714 points, or 1.2 percent, at the closing bell. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty fell more than 200 points, finishing just above the 17,150 mark. Today's biggest gainers included M&M, Bharti Airtel, and Maruti Suzuki. Today's top losers included SBI, HUL, and IndusInd Bank. The BSE Mid Cap index was down 0.7%, while the BSE Small Cap index was down 0.4% in broader markets. All sectoral indices finished in the red, with the majority of the selling concentrated in banking, metals, and healthcare sectors. Today, Adani Power and Reliance Industries' stock touched a 52-week high.

Asian stock markets sent contradictory signals outside of their own country. The Nikkei 225 fell 1.6% at the close in Tokyo, while the Hang Seng fell 0.3%. The Shanghai Composite Index increased by 0.2%. At the time of writing, the SGX Nifty was down by 1.4%. Global sentiment soured following the US Federal Reserve's suggestion of a more aggressive rate hike in the face of rising inflation fears.
