Today NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX was the best performing index and NIFTY OIL & GAS was the worst- performing index.

Nifty closed below 17,700 and Sensex dropped over 575 points in today’s trade on the back of weak global cues and hawkish Federal Reserve minutes. Nifty 50 closed in red in today's trade with a fall of 168.10 points. It opened at 17723.30 against the previous close of 17807.65, which means a gap down of 84.35 points and this gap extended by the time market closed. Overall, we saw that today there were more stocks that closed in red.

In today’s trade, the best performing index was NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX which was up by 0.60%. This is followed by NIFTY PHARMA, which was up by 0.41%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY OIL & GAS. It is down by 2.24 per cent. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, 9.0 companies closed in red, and 6.0 closed in green.
Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'ICICI Bank', 'Axis Bank', 'HUL', 'Divis Labs' and 'M&M' together they contributed around 24.29 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'Titan Company', 'TCS', 'HDFC', 'HDFC Bank', and 'Reliance Industries'. These companies contributed 112.75 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

Overall market today was in favour of decline. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 190:295.
