Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on September 26, 2022

Indian benchmark indices trade at massive losses, with 7 sectors falling by more than 3% each.

Fears that major economies will enter a recession as a result of raising interest rates to combat inflation caused the majority of US stocks to tumble on Friday. The Nasdaq Composite Index plunged 1.80%, Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 1.62%, and the S&P 500 lost 1.72%.

Indian headline indices opened with sharp declines as a result of global weakness. Massive losses were observed in all sectors, with BSE Metals taking the worst hit. Jindal Steel, Vedanta, and Hindalco Industries shares all fell more than 5%, which contributed to a nearly 5% decline in BSE Metals.

At 11:40 am, the BSE Sensex lost 1.46%, reaching a level of 57,253. The Nifty 50 index fell 1.67% to the 17,037 level. On the Sensex, Nestle India, Infosys and HCL Technologies were the top gainers, whereas Power Grid Corporation of India, Tata Steel and NTPC Ltd were the market draggers.

Today's decline significantly impacted broader markets. The BSE Midcap index plunged 2.95% and was trading at a level of 24,525 while the Smallcap index slumped 3.40% and was trading at a level of 27,832.
