Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on October 3, 2022

Gains in the healthcare, telecommunications, and energy sector stocks helped indices recoup some of their earlier losses. 

Fears of a recession and the Federal Reserve's aggressive actions dragged Wall Street indices down on Friday. The S&P 500 plunged 1.51%, the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 1.51%, and Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 1.71%.

The majority of Asian markets experienced sluggish trade on Monday, reflecting weak investor sentiments worldwide. After experiencing a sharp dip, Indian benchmark indices attempted to trim prior losses as the market was boosted by gains in the healthcare, telecommunications, oil & gas, and energy sectors.  

At 11:45 am, the BSE Sensex declined 0.32%, reaching a level of 57,242. The Nifty 50 index slipped 0.22% to the 17,056 level. On the Sensex, NTPC Ltd, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Sun Pharmaceuticals were the top gainers, whereas Maruti Suzuki, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the market draggers. 

The BSE Midcap index rose 0.23% and was trading at a level of 24,910 while the Smallcap index gained 0.46% and was trading at a level of 28,583.
