Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on October 17, 2022

At 11.30 am on Monday, headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading marginally as global markets are facing extreme volatility owing to recession fears.

 The Sensex is at 58,144.06, up by 225 points or 0.39% and the Nifty 50 is trading at 17,249.95, higher by 64.25 points or 0.37%.

The top gainers in the Sensex pack were the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and IndusInd Bank. Whereas, the top losers were Larsen and Toubro, UltraTech Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, Wipro, and Tata Steel.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index is trading flat at 30,495.2,0, lower by 0.10%. The top three gainers of the index are Canara Bank, City Union Bank, and Bank of Baroda. Each of these scrips was up by more than 3%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index include Tata Elxsi, Oberoi Realty, and Varun Beverages.  

On the sectoral front, stocks in private banks, the power sector, PSUs, and financial services were seen rising on the bourses. Whereas Oil & Gas, metal and energy sectors were some of the major losers on the bourses today.
