Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on May 20, 2022
Indian equity market has soared like an eagle on Friday morning, with Sensex and Nifty both hovering over 2.30%.
Overnight, poor results from some US companies pulled the stocks on Wall Street into red territory. The release of inflation data created worries among investors that led to the selling of US stocks. Nasdaq ended lower by 0.26%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gave up 0.75% and S&P 500 declined 0.58%.

In contrast, all the leading Asian markets were trading in green territory. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and Japan’s Nikkei 225 were trading upwards by 2.17% and 1.33%, respectively.
At 11:30 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at 16,180.55, up by 2.35%. The top gainers in the Nifty 50 pack were Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories, Tata Motors and JSW Steel. On the other hand, the stocks trading in red were Apollo Hospitals and UPL Ltd. Nifty Bank was at the level of 34,064.25, jumping by 2.25%. No single bank was trading in red territory. Whereas, top-performing banks were IndusInd Bank, Bank of Baroda and AU Small Finance Bank.
Sensex was trading at a level of 54,008.70, surged by 2.30%. Whereas, BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 22,455.30, up by 1.75% and BSE Smallcap index rose by 1.78%, trading at a level of 26,261.31. The top performers on Sensex were Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories, Nestle India and Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
On the sectoral front, all the indices were trading in green, with BSE Realty, BSE Auto and BSE Metals being the best performing sectors.
