Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on May 12, 2022

Leading global indices and most of the Wall Street stocks witnessed a major drop yesterday amid weak global cues. Benchmark indicator S&P 500 lost 1.65% to 3,915.18 and Nasdaq fell 3.18% to the level of 11,364.24.

Headline indicator SGX Nifty indicated a gap-down opening on the fifth consecutive day with a loss of 149 points. With that impact, in India, Sensex and Nifty 50 fell sharply. Nearly 200 stocks witnessed 52-week low points on the BSE.

Following is the list of penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on Thursday. Keep a close eye on these counters for the upcoming sessions.

At 10:50 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at 15,867.40, down by 1.85%. The top gainers in the Nifty 50 pack were HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra Ltd. On the other hand, top losers were Hindalco Industries, Tata Motors and IndusInd Bank. Nifty Bank was at the level of 33,855.60, down by 2.41%. The only bank trading in the green was Bandhan Bank, while Punjab National Bank tanked by more than 10%. Other affected banks were Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank and IDFC First Bank.

Sensex was trading at a level of 53,179.61, down by 1.68%. Whereas, BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 21,729.25, tanking by 1.86%. BSE Smallcap index fell by 1.37% and was trading at a level of 25,146.40. The top performers of Sensex were Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra Ltd. And, stocks pulling down the index were Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank and Titan Company Ltd.

On the sectoral front, most of the indices were trading in red, with BSE Metals and BSE Power being the most affected sectors. Surprisingly, the IT sector was the least affected sector.
