Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on May 10, 2022

Most of the leading global indices witnessed a major drop on Monday amid weak global cues.

Overnight in the US stock market, benchmark indicators S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell more than 3% and 4%, respectively.

"China’s adherence to its zero-COVID policy, Russia's recession and tightening global financial conditions are set to pull EM growth sharply lower this quarter," wrote Luis Oganes, head of currencies, commodities and EM research, and Jonny Goulden, head of EM local markets and sovereign debt strategy at JPMorgan.

At 10:45 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at 16,325.75, up by 0.15%. The top gainers in the Nifty 50 pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Auto Ltd. On the other hand, top losers were Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Apollo Hospitals and Tata Steel Ltd. The Nifty Bank was at the level of 34,405.60, up by 0.38%. The top performers trading in the green were Punjab National Bank, IndusInd Bank and State Bank of India. The most affected banks were Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and Bandhan Bank.

Sensex was trading at a level of 54,562.86, up by 0.17%. Whereas, BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 22,561.37, down by 0.58%. BSE Smallcap index fell by 0.19% and was trading at a level of 26,589.37. The top performers of Sensex were UltraTech Cement Ltd, Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. And, stocks pulling down the index were Tata Steel, Titan Company Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd.

On the sectoral front, most of the indices were trading in red, with BSE Consumer durables, BSE Metals and BSE Utilities being the most affected sectors.
