Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on July 14, 2022

Nifty trades below 16,000, and the rupee hit a record low for the fourth straight session as the indices trade flat.

Following the release of the report, which revealed that US inflation surged to a record high of 9.1% in June over the previous 12 months, all the three major US indices were down more than 1% early on Wednesday. As the largest increase in consumer prices since 1981 hinted at aggressive Federal Reserve policies, more than 90% of S&P 500 companies were in the red territory. The rupee weakened in opening trade to hit a record low of 79.77 against the US dollar.

The opening of Indian benchmark indicators on Thursday was more optimistic despite weakness in the global markets. Then, indicators reversed earlier gains. At 11:45 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 15,974.55 level, edged up by 0.05%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Kotak Mahindra Bank, Sun Pharmaceuticals and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories whereas; JSW Steel, Axis Bank and UPL Ltd were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 53,559.79, rising by 0.09%. The top gainers were Kotak Mahindra Bank, Sun Pharmaceuticals and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories whereas; Axis Bank, Tata Consultancy Services and NTPC Ltd were the top draggers of the session.
