Domestic indices trade lower while the Rupee hits a new lifetime low of 79.41 per dollar.

Wall Street witnessed a volatile session on Friday that saw investors trying to understand how a strong jobs report would affect the U.S. Federal Reserve and its intentions to rapidly raise interest rates. According to a Reuters poll of economists, the Labor Department's eagerly awaited data revealed nonfarm payrolls increased by 3,72,000 jobs in June, exceeding the predicted increase of 2,68,000 jobs.

On Monday, the Indian domestic markets witnessed a negative start, following weak global cues. At 11:45 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 16,133.40 level, slipping by 0.54%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Mahindra and Mahindra whereas; Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Technologies were the top losers of the session. 

Sensex was trading at a level of 54,154.03, which declined by 0.60%. The top gainers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Mahindra and Mahindra and ICICI Bank whereas; Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Technologies were the top draggers of the session. 

The rupee depreciated to an all-time low of 79.41 against the US dollar. The Reserve Bank of India’s foreign exchange reserves logged their biggest weekly drop in three months in the week ended July 1, data released on July 8 showed. Similarly, crypto currencies continued to fall, widening their weekend losses.
