Domestic indices trade higher amid positive global cues led by capital goods stocks.

As investors lowered their expectations for how much the US Federal Reserve will increase interest rates, the major Wall Street indices gained on Thursday. The Nasdaq soared 2.28% while the S&P 500 advanced by 1.50%. The shares of Tesla witnessed massive buying as it surged by over 5%.

The Indian markets opened on Friday with modest gains, following positive global cues. At 11:30 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 16,189.30 level, advanced by 0.35%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Larsen and Toubro, NTPC Ltd and Axis Bank whereas; Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors and HDFC Life Insurance Company were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 54,395.09, gained by 0.40%. The top gainers were Larsen and Toubro, NTPC Ltd and Axis Bank whereas Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel and IndusInd Bank were the top draggers of the session.

The rupee depreciated to 79.25 against the US dollar. According to a report published by SBI Research on Thursday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) should try to internationalize the rupee in view of the payment disruptions caused on by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
