Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on August 10, 2022

Domestic indices trade lower dragged by IT and technology stocks. 

US indices opened lower as investors awaited the release of the most recent inflation data and exercised caution in light of recent disappointing news in the technology sector. Due to warnings of dismal revenue amid challenges with the global supply chain, shares of Micron Technology and Nvidia Corporation dragged the index lower.

With significant losses in IT and tech stocks, the major Indian indices opened flat. eClerx Services and Subex Ltd, which lost more than 4%, contributed to BSE IT being the worst-performing sector.

At 9:50 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 17,468.30 level, falling by 0.32%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Sun Pharmaceuticals, ICICI Bank and Nestle India whereas; Bajaj Finance, Wipro and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 58,641.59, declining by 0.36%. The top gainers were Sun Pharmaceuticals, ICICI Bank and Nestle India whereas; NTPC Ltd, Bajaj Finance and Wipro were the top draggers of the session.

By promoting the rupee as the preferred currency for international trade settlement, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) aims to boost exports. The RBI requested banks make additional provisions last month for export and import transactions made in Indian rupees.
