Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on April 22, 2022

Domestic markets tanked on Friday’s opening bell amid weak global cues. At 11:30 am on Friday, benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading in red.

In the morning session, BSE Sensex was trading at a level of 57,621.55. BSE Midcap also slipped and was trading at 24,819.37 levels, while Smallcap index rose and traded at the level of 29,478.12 The only gaining stocks on BSE Sensex were HCL Technologies, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance. All other stocks were trading in red. And, top losers were Axis Bank, SBI and Dr.Reddy’s Laboratory which were nearly 2% down from the last trading day. The market strength was very poor as only 1693 equities increased on the BSE, whereas 1530 declined. There were a total of 119 shares that remained unchanged.

Nifty 50 index has also fallen into red and was trading at 17,266.55 levels. The gaining stocks on Nifty 50 were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, HCL Technologies and Maruti Suzuki. On the other hand, stocks dragging the index include Hindalco Industries, HDFC Life Insurance and Cipla Ltd.

The Nifty Midcap index is trading at 30585.35 levels. The top three gainers of the index were ABB India Ltd, L&T Finance Holdings, and ZEE Entertainment Enterprises. Only stocks dragging the index down were National Aluminium Company, AU Small Finance Bank and Balkrishna Industries. All the three were down more than 2%

The Nifty Smallcap index was trading at 10632.10. The top three gainers of the index were Sterlite Technologies, Cyient Ltd and Edelweiss Financial Services. The top stocks pulling the index down were Aegis Logistics, Brightcom Group and RBL Bank.
