Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on April 12, 2022

At 11.30 am on Tuesday, headline indices Sensex and Nifty fell by almost 1% each amidst weaker global cues and a depreciating rupee against the US dollar.

The Sensex was at 58,478.28, down by 486.2 points or 0.82%, and the Nifty was at 17,508.40, down by 166.55 points or 0.94%. 

The top gainers in the Sensex pack are TCS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCL Technologies, and Maruti Suzuki. Whereas, the top losers were Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index is trading at 30,907.65 and is down by 1.59%. The top three gainers of the index are Varun Beverages, PI industries, and Coromandel International. Each of these scrips was up by more than 1%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index include Sanofi India, JSW energy, and Prestige Estate.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index is trading at 10,772.65 down by 1.08%. The top 3 gainers of the index are Rites, Mazagaon Dock Shipbuilders, and Just Dial. Each of these scrips was up by more than 4%. The top stocks pulling the index down were APL Apollo tubes, NALCO, and IRB Infrastructure.

On the sectoral front, only Nifty energy is in the green, the rest of the sectoral indices are down by 1% to 3%.
