Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit

The Indian benchmark indices were trading volatile due to Union Budget 2023 while the BSE FMCG Index was shining among all the sectoral indices.

On Thursday, the benchmark indices were trading flat with Sensex up around 8 points or 0.02% at 59,712.91, and the Nifty trading down by 31 points or 0.16% at 17,584.05.60.

Top gainers and losers

ITC Ltd, Infosys Ltd and HCL Technologies Ltd were the top Sensex gainers today, while Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank were the top Sensex losers.

The indices traded in a positive manner in the broader markets, with the BSE Mid-cap index rising by 0.05% and the BSE Small-cap index rising by 0.73%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Ashok Leyland Ltd and Vodafone Idea Ltd, while the top small-cap gainers were Manaksia Ltd and Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd.

The indices were trading mixed on the sectoral front, with the BSE FMCG Index leading the gainers and the BSE Utilities Index leading the losers today. The BSE FMCG Index increased by 1.81%, led by Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd and Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Ltd while the BSE Utilities Index fell by 3.51%, dragged down by Adani Green Energy Ltd and Adani Transmission Ltd.
