Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on September 8

Indian shares were trading merrily in green supported by gains in banking stocks but facing a drag by metal stocks. 

Domestic equity benchmarks opened on a positive note on Thursday due to a sharp fall in crude oil prices. Also, in overnight trade, the US stocks closed at a 4-week high which fueled domestic sentiments.

At noon, Sensex was up 463.40 points or 0.79% at 59,492.31. Nifty added 123.80 points or 0.70% at 17,748.20. BPCL, Mahindra & Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Ultratech Cement were the top Sensex gainers whereas Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, SBI Life, Britannia Industries and Coal India were the top Sensex losers. 

On the sectoral front, all the sectors were trading mixed, with the BSE Finance and BSE Bankex indices in the lead among the sectoral peers trading more than 1% up. Bank of Baroda, Bandhan Bank, and ICICI Bank were the top stocks pushing up the Bankex index with Federal Bank being the only loser among the stocks making up the index. 

However, the broader markets were trading higher with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gaining 0.4% and 0.73%. Bajaj Holdings which gained beyond 4.6% and Nuvoco Vistas Corporation which zoomed 4.08% were the top gaining midcap stock whereas Schneider Electric Infrastructure and Future Consumer were the top performing small cap stocks, jumping 15% and 10%, respectively.
