Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on September 23

While surprisingly technology stocks attempt to boost the market with their modest gains, Indian benchmark indices trade lower. 

Due to the weakening of the global economy, all the major Asian markets were trading lower. SGX Nifty indicated a sluggish opening for the broader index in India. Indian domestic indices opened lower as was expected. 

Whereas the BSE Financial Services and BSE Bankex plunged more than 2%, the total 8 sectoral indices fell more than 1%. The only sectors that gained ground were BSE Healthcare, BSE IT, and BSE Teck.

At 12:45 pm, the BSE Sensex dipped 1.34%, reaching a level of 58,328. The Nifty 50 index fell 1.30% to 17,400 level. On the Sensex, Sun Pharmaceuticals, ITC Ltd and Tata Steel were the top gainers, while Power Grid Corporation of India, Mahindra and Mahindra and HDFC were the top losers.

The shares of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers, the top BSE Smallcap gainer, soared over 11% and witnessed a strong price-volume breakout. Schneider Electric Infrastructure and Apcotex Industries saw significant buying as their shares climbed more than 8%. Cranex Ltd was the top gainer on the BSE today, locking in a 20% upper circuit.
