The stocks of SBI, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ultratech Cement and L&T were the top contributors to Sensex whereas NTPC, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, HDFC and Tech Mahindra were the only Sensex losers.

On the sectoral front, all sectors traded higher with FMCG, Telecom, Capital Goods and Realty were on the forefront. BSE Capital Goods Index gained 1.72% lifted up by Suzlon Energy, Siemens and Bharat Electronics. Expected healthy order books and price increases over the past year are likely to lead to an uptick in demand for capital goods companies and this infused optimistic sentiments in capital goods stocks. The broader markets also jumped in tandem as Nifty MidCap 100 and Nifty SmallCap 100 zoomed 0.7% each.

Among individual stocks, shares of Zee Entertainment gained over 4% after Invesco Developing Markets Fund sold a 10.14% stake through a block deal. The shares of Adani Transmission zoomed over 2% post a 13% jump in the number of electricity units sold during Q2FY23.
