In yet another volatile session, Nifty 50 closed in red with a fall of 69.85 points. It opened at 17405.05 against the previous close of 17315.50, which means a gap up of 89.55 points and touched an intraday high of 17444 points. Overall, we saw that today's trade breadth became negative and more stocks closed in red.

In today’s trade the best performing index was NIFTY METAL which was up by 1.21%. This is followed by NIFTY MIDCAP 100, which was up by 0.55%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY AUTO. It is down by 1.04%. Out of total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, 12.0 companies closed in red, and 3.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'Reliance Industries', 'Divis Labs', 'Tata Steel', 'Hindalco' and 'ITC' together they contributed around 30.50 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'Bharti Airtel', 'Kotak Mahindra', 'Infosys', 'HDFC Bank', 'HDFC'. These companies contributed 69.83points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

Overall market today was in favour of decline. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 205:280.
