In a very volatile trading session, Nifty 50 closed in green in today's trade with a gain of 35.55 points. It opened at 16528.8 against the previous close of 16594.90, which means a gap down of 66.10 points, however soon it gained and breached the 16600 mark. Overall, we saw that in today's trade the breadth in the market was positive.

In today’s trade, the best performing index was NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX which was up by 2.6%. This is followed by NIFTY PHARMA, which was up by 2.46 per cent. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY AUTO. It was down by 0.4%. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, 8.0 companies closed in red, and 7.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'JSW Steel', 'ITC', 'Sun Pharma', 'Cipla' and 'Bajaj Finance', together they contributed around 28.25 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'Infosys', 'HDFC', 'Maruti Suzuki', 'TCS', and Nestle. These companies contributed 16.31 points towards the Nifty 50 fall.

Overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 288:198.
