Indian equity market (Nifty 50) closed in the green in today's trade with a gain of 135.5 points despite opening in the red. It opened at 16481.6 against the previous close of 16658.4, which means a gap down of 176.8 points. Sentiment improved and we saw that in today's trade more stocks closed in green.

In today’s trade, the best performing index is NIFTY METAL which was up by 4.95%. This is followed by NIFTY OIL & GAS, which is up by 2.62%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY AUTO. It is down by 0.69%. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, 7.0 companies closed in red, and 8.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'Reliance', 'ICICI Bank', 'Infosys', 'JSW Steel' and 'Titan Company' together they contributed around 103.81 points gain in the index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'M&M ', 'HDFC Life ', 'Axis Bank', 'HDFC' and 'HDFC Bank'. These companies contributed 51.03 points fall towards the Nifty 50.

The overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 334:151.
