Today NIFTY FMCG is the best performing index and NIFTY PSU BANK is the worst performing index.

Logging one of the worst falls, Nifty 50 closed in deep red in today's trade with a fall of 815.3 points. Last time we saw such a fall was in March 2020. Nifty 50 opened at 16548.90 against the previous close of 17063.25, which means a gap down of 514.35 points. It tried to gain in the first half, however, failed to sustain the gain. Overall, in today's trade, more stocks closed in the red. The market today closed in favour of decline. The advance to decline ratio today stood at 7:483, again worst in the last two years.

In today’s trade all the sectoral indices closed in red and the best performing index NIFTY FMCG was also down by -3.33%. This is followed by NIFTY PHARMA, which is down by 3.67%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY PSU BANK. It is down by 8.26 %. Out of the total 13.0 companies forming part of the index, all closed in red.

Companies that saw the worst fall among Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'Hindalco ', 'Coal India ', 'Cipla ', 'ONGC ' and 'Dr Reddys Labs.' While the companies that dragged the index were 'Infosys ', 'Bajaj Finance ', 'ICICI Bank ', 'HDFC Bank ', 'Reliance'. These companies contributed 294.03 points towards the Nifty 50 fall.
