Indian equity market snapped the seven days losing streak and Nifty 50 today closed in the green in today's trade with a gain of 410.45 points. It opened at 16515.65 against the previous close of 16247.95, which means a gap up of 267.70 points. Overall, we saw that in today's trade more stocks closed in green.

In today’s trade, all the sectoral indices closed in green. The best performing index is NIFTY METAL which was up by 5.74 per cent. Names such as Vedanta, Tata Steel and Coal India contributed to the rise in Nifty Metal index. This is followed by NIFTY REALTY, which was up by 5.34%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY FMCG. It is up by 1.6%. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, 3.0 companies closed in red, and 12.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'Bajaj Finance ', 'HDFC Bank ', 'ICICI Bank ', 'TCS ' and 'HDFC ' together they contributed around 144.74 points gain in the index. While the companies that did not perform well were 'BPCL ', 'SBI Life Insura ', 'HUL ', 'Nestle ' and 'Britannia '. These companies contributed -0.9 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

The overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 465:25.
