At noon on Monday, headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50 witnessed a sharp fall owing to the rising geopolitical tension between Ukraine and Russia, which led to the highest rise in crude oil prices. The crude oil price rose to its seven-year peak on Monday!

The Sensex was trading at 56,979.62, down by 1173.30 points or 2.02%, and Nifty was trading at 17,018,40, down by 356.35 points or 2.05%%.

The sole gainers on the Sensex are TCS and Sun Pharmaceuticals. On the flip side, the top losers were Tata Steel, SBI, HDFC Ltd, ICICI Bank, and IndusInd Bank.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index is trading at 29,112.55 and is down by 2.07%. The top three gainers of the index were Cummins India, Fortis Healthcare, and Sun TV Network. Each of these scrips was up by more than 2%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index were LIC Housing Finance Company, Tata Elxsi, and Ashok Leyland.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index is trading at 10,426.35, down by 2.50%. The top 3 gainers of the index were Sequent Scientific, JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, and Kaveri Seed Company. Each of these scrips was up by more than 4%. The top 3 stocks dragging the index are APL Apollo Tubes, Avanti Feeds, and Quess Corp.

All the sectoral indices on the Nifty were in the red, with Nifty Oil & Gas down by 5% and Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Private bank falling more than 3%.
